The music industry is a career that took me 40 years to find.
Or maybe it took music that long to find me.
Maybe I wasn’t ready back then. Maybe I needed ten years of technician work at a busy veterinary clinic to show me how to handle stress like a pro. Maybe I needed two years as an executive assistant to teach me how to be an avid multitasker. Maybe I needed nine years as an event manager to know all the meticulous details of handling large scale events without dropping any balls.
Whatever it was, this is a career I have prepared for my entire life.
My 'calling' came a few years into my involvement with Chad Brownlee and Dallas Smith’s annual charity golf tournament/concert in Langley, BC. I got a peek behind the music industry curtain and I wanted to be a part of it! Fast forward a few years and I graduated from Durham College’s music business program in 2018. Immediately after that, I began to work for Jill Snell at Road Angel Entertainment and Jayward Artist Group. I soaked in all the advice, knowledge and opportunities that I could, and have now launched my own venture - HIGHWAY 79 ARTIST SERVICES.
As a one woman show, I offer project management, artist management, business and administration services and support to Canadian music artists. I’ll be the best right-hand woman you’ve ever had. I can help you conquer tasks that are seemingly daunting and make them happen. HIGHWAY 79 has become my passion project turned full-time career. It’s where my natural desire for order and development really shine. I put my inner “Monica Geller” to work in my obsession with detail and my dynamic skillset all in the service of those creative minded individuals for whom ‘organization’ is a dirty and terrifying word.
I’m open to any opportunities that the music biz throws my way - trust me, I’ll catch ‘em. It’s about the journey, right?
That’s why I never turn down an opportunity to learn or try something new.
And as a side note, my support skills come with my fluent bilingual language skills in French, you know — for je ne sais quoi.
